Representative Projects:

Review of the Environmental Impact Statement for the
Doris North Project

Participated, in association with KAVIK-AXYS Inc., in a review of the environmental impact statement for the proposed Doris Lake Gold Mine in Nunavut, for the Government of Nunavut. Areas reviewed included water and sediment quality, fish populations, fish habitat, lower trophic levels, and aquatic toxicology.

Environmental Monitoring for New Britannia Mine
Conducted limnological surveys of Herblet Lake, which included evaluations of water and sediment chemistry, invertebrate populations, fish tissue metal residues, and an assessment of fish habitat.

Review of the Diavik Diamond Mine Project EIS, CEA, and CSR
Assisted in the review of the Environmental Impact Statement, Cumulative Effects Assessment, and Comprehensive Study Report prepared for the Diavik Diamond Mines Project in Nunavut Territory for the Canadian Arctic Resources Committee.

Advisory and review services for First Nations in relation to oil sands development

Investigation of Zach Pond (N.W.T.) for BHP Diamonds Inc.
Collected baseline water and sediment chemistry and lower trophic level (phytoplankton, zooplankton, and benthos) data from a potential exploratory drilling site.

Birchtree Mine Effluent Environmental Assessment
Conducted an environmental assessment of the effluent discharge from the Birchtree Mine near Thompson, Manitoba, for INCO Ltd. The project included studies of fish and fish habitat, assessment of the effects of sludge waste on water chemistry and sedimentation, and stream temperature modelling.

Effects of Nanisivik Mine on the Sediments of Strathcona Sound
Prepared a report for Environment Canada describing the results of a sediment study conducted in Strathcona Sound to assess contamination from Nanisivik Mine's lead-zinc operation.

Review of Cheviot Mine Project Application
Reviewed the application by Cardinal River Coals Ltd. to develop an open-pit coal mine on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains. The review included an assessment of the effects of the mine on fish and fish habitat, evaluation of proposed mitigation and compensation measures, and a brief description of monitoring programs that could address information deficiencies identified during the review.
