Representative Projects:
Devon Canada Corporation
Collection of fish, benthos, and zooplankton samples from the Beaufort Sea to establish a baseline for assessment of potential effects from Devon's proposed Beaufort Sea Offshore Exploratory Drilling Program.
Beaufort Sea Steering Committee
Analyzed the effectiveness and costs of restoration and compensation for loss of wildlife and wildlife habitat in the event of an oil spill in the Beaufort Sea.
Gas Exploration
Conducted the aquatic component of an impact assessment for Mackenzie Delta Partnership's gas exploration program in the Beaufort Sea.
Advisory and review services for First Nations in relation to oil sands development
Participated, in association with AXYS Environmental Consulting Ltd., in providing technical advisory and EIS review services to Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN). Services included review and evaluation of baseline reports and EIS documents related to two proposed major oil sands developments; Shell Jackpine Phase 1 and CNRL Horizon. Similar services were also provided to ACFN and Ft. McKay First Nation in relation to the proposed Deer Creek Energy - Joslyn SAFD Phase 2 Project.
Beaufort Region Environmental Assessment and Monitoring Program (BREAM)
Provided input with respect to regional fisheries issues and concerns, reviewed the state of oil/fish effects science, and assisted in the development of regional research and monitoring priorities related to oil and gas development.
Fisheries Studies Within the Middle Ob River, Russia for Amoco Eurasia
Conducted fisheries studies in conjunction with Aquatic Environments Ltd. and the Siberian Fisheries Research Institute to assess impacts of existing and future hydrocarbon developments and assist in the design of future monitoring programs.
Northern Oil and Gas Action Program (NOGAP)
Provided the Department of Fisheries and Oceans with taxonomic services for larval fish and planktonic and benthic invertebrates in samples collected from the Beaufort Sea.
TransCanada Pipeline
Assessed proposed pipeline crossing sites at four rivers in southern Manitoba. Determined riverine habitat sensitivity to construction, assessed potential impacts on fish resources and resource users, and made recommendations with respect to mitigation and requirements for environmental effects monitoring.
Duke Energy's Grizzly Extension Pipeline Project
Sub-contracted by AXYS Environmental Consulting Ltd. to conduct stream crossing assessments and habitat inventories in northeastern BC. Reaches of two streams were surveyed to classify and quantify fish habitat upstream and downstream of existing road crossings.
BP Energy Canada's Red Deer Creek (Ojay) Pipeline Project
Sub-contracted by AXYS Environmental Consulting Ltd. to conduct stream crossing assessments in northeastern BC. A total of 56 proposed crossings were assessed.
