Mercury Levels in Fish, Zooplankton, Water,
and Sediments

Approximately 20 contracts have been conducted since 1984 to collect and analyze fish, water, zooplankton, and sediment samples from selected sites along the Churchill River Diversion and Nelson River for mercury content. The mercury data were collected to contribute to a joint study program by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Manitoba Hydro, and Quebec Hydro to monitor the evolution of mercury levels in areas affected by hydroelectric development.

Data have been published in a series of data and technical reports.
