Taltson River / Twin Gorges Generating Station Project
North/South Consultants Inc. was contracted by the Northwest Territories Power Corporation to develop the biological component of a "water effects monitoring program" for the Twin Gorges facility of the Taltson River, NWT. The objective of the program was to provide an efficient and effective method to identify short-term, long-term, and cumulative changes in the aquatic environment resulting from the Project.
The monitoring program was developed with input from regulatory authorities, including the federal departments of Indian and Northern Affairs, Fisheries and Oceans, and Environment. Consultation with affected communities to ensure project-related community concerns were addressed and incorporated into the monitoring program took place via local public meetings and the creation of a Community Advisory Group.
