Brandon Municipal Water Intake
The City of Brandon conducted dredging on its municipal water intake along the south shore of the Assiniboine River in Brandon, Manitoba. Due to the potential presence of the Endangered Mapleleaf Mussel at the project site, a mussel survey and relocation was required.
NSC's role in the project:
- Acquired relevant permits for the survey;
- Coordinated the survey and relocation of all freshwater mussels found in the potentially affected part of the river (no Mapleleaf Mussels were found); and
- Supervised the SCUBA team that searched the river bottom.
