Baseline Studies
An accurate and thorough description of the existing environment is necessary before the potential effects of a project can be assessed. NSC has planned and conducted aquatic baseline studies in a range of environments from isolated, pristine Arctic lakes in Nunavut and mountain streams in British Columbia, to large, regulated waterbodies such as the Nelson River in northern Manitoba, and impacted streams and rivers that flow through urban areas. Our environmental sampling capabilities include almost all aspects of the aquatic environment . NSC's sampling design takes into account each project's unique requirements, and data are collected in a manner that permits analyses across time, such as fish population modelling and long-term trend identification, for inclusion in effects assessments.Representative projects:
